Mrs. Hughes and Elementary Strings

Welcome to Violin, Viola, Cello, and String Bass! Hello to all string parents and students! I hope everyone is enjoying the new school year. You have chosen to add a new dimension to your education--the playing of a musical instrument! It is important to remember that students will not reap the benefits of music education if they do not do their ''instrumental homework'' and that is to PRACTICE!!! A little bit each day is better than trying to play for an hour once a week. It will be difficult for students to make any progress without consistent practice at home. I have asked students to fill in their practice charts and parents are asked to sign them each week. Some students may find that before school practicing is the ideal solution to a very busy schedule! Lessons are during the school day. There will be some before school rehearsals prior to concerts, except at Clarksville where rehearsals are during recess. Mrs. Hughes will put a note in the school newsletters about this, so students should not come before school until they receive an orchestra letter with rehearsal information or until they read about rehearsal in the school newsletter. Please feel free to call and leave a voice mail or e-mail if you have any concerns.

Message from Mrs. Hughes Mrs. Hughes would like to thank Mr. K for filling in at the last minute as she is out on leave. She is enjoying all of the concerts and has two more to attend this week, Elsmere Tues dresss rehearsal and and Slingerlands Weds night!

New third graders interested in fourth grade orchestra I hope you all had fun at Meet the string Night If you have questions about next year please be sure to contact Mr. Norman music supervisor at the high school (normdhs@bcsd.neric.org) 439-4921 This can be a very confusing time with me out and Mr. K trying to do everything before he leaves soon--plus you are wondering what to do about next year etc! We will give the sudents an opportunity even if things need to be arranged in the fall!
