The General Music Classroom

Pre K-3 with Miss Fab Each student at the Winthrop School participates in the general music class. Classes meet weekly for 30-45 minutes depending on the grade level. In music class, students experience a wide variety of songs and dances. Students are introduced to a variety of instruments, from drums to xylophones, maracas to claves. Students in second and third grade study the recorder as part of the general music curriculm. Recorders may be stored at school or they can be brought from home on music day. Students in grades 1, 2, 2~3, and 3 perform a concert once a year. This concert is an opportunity for the students to perform for their peers, family, friends and community. Concerts showcase student learning. Concerts often branch off of student learning from their own classrooms such as American History, Explorers, Insects or they may deal with a specific topic such as diversity and respect and responsibility. Look for more information regarding your child's concert as the date nears.
