PROCESS - Why Travel West?

You are responsible for teaching people about the benefits of moving west. You need to convince people that life out west, and especially in Oregon, is exciting, interesting, and good for their families! Don't forget to mention how it will help them save money.

PROCESS - What to bring with you!

You are responsible for explaining what is appropriate to bring on the long journey west. People are settled within their homes, and it is very difficult to part with many of people's personal items. You need to help them figure out which items are essential, or most important.

WHAT TO BRING ON THE TRIP!

PROCESS - Who should you travel with?

You are responsible for explaining the benefits of traveling in a large group out west. Be sure to tell people about trail guides and wagon trains!

WHO SHOULD YOU TRAVEL WITH?

PROCESS - What was daily life like?

It's your job to explain to people the basics about life when you're traveling west in a covered wagon. Be sure to include what you'll eat, where you'll sleep, and what you'll wear along the way!

WHAT WAS DAILY LIFE LIKE?

PROCESS - What are some of the dangers and difficulties along the way?

This group's job is to warn people about obstacles they may face as they travel west. You will explain to people that there are some dangers on the Oregon Trail, but being prepared will help them travel safely. Be sure to prepare people for all the difficulties you can, so they'll have a smooth trip.

DANGERS AND DIFFICULTIES

PROCESS - Visitor's Center

Your job is to explain that while the trail and journey is very long, there are forts and landmarks to stop at along the way. In addition to creating a map of the Oregon Trail, you are responsible for explaining at least 5 stops on the Oregon Trail and how they could be helpful to pioneers.
